Longing for a Walk

I’ve been longing to take a walk, the kind of walk I usually do in the summers I spent in my hometown.

Each time I take a step, one foot resting while the other moving forward, I feel the earth under my feet. It is firm and steady like a father, yet sweet and nurturing like a mother.

Walking gives birth to a renewed awareness of nature’s abundance and grace.

Walking often means meeting fellow pilgrims of life whose familiar faces and timid but warm smiles deepen my sense of belonging.

Walking makes me yield to simplicity and to the beauty of the past—the very foundation of all that we now have.

There is something about walking that makes me feel I am one with the universe, something that makes me long to embrace it in all its variety and wholeness.

I’ll continue finding time to walk. Who knows, I might also meet you along the way, my dear blogging friends. Together, we shall celebrate the beauty of observing the world at a human pace.

Sa Bohol dati, I remember following a sign that says, “This way to the beach.” Matagal na kaming naglalakad ng kasama ko, wala pa kaming makitang beach. Then, may mga napagtanungan kaming taga-doon. They told us “Malapit lang.” The “malapit” lang turned out to be about 6 kilometers :D

  4. Walking reminds me to take things at my own pace. There’s no need to run, there’s no need to hurry. And every step means an opportunity to look around and just let things be. :)

Yes, sa panahon ngayon na parang trumpo sa bilis ang pag-ikot ng ating paligid, kailangan nating mag-slow down paminsan-minsan to keep the balance ;)

  15. Ah, I smell the countryside! I remember when I was a kid I visit my lola’s farm, watch the farmers in the rice fields, ride the carabaos….but that was then….
It has been urbanized, houses poping up in the barrios.
This post made me reminisce those days….

  18. I love this post. People who can enjoy nature and all that is free and beautiful, are the luckiest people in the world. I count myself one of them ~ and living just four minutes walk from the Jurrasic coast line of South coast England, I get to enjoy the beauty of nature daily.
